A storm counts when the library lists El Paso County among the areas it hit. Each hail size is the storm's largest report, which may have fallen in a neighboring county, and insured losses cover every area the storm hit.

Seamless gutters are worth it for most Colorado Springs homes. A seamless gutter is formed on site from a coil of metal into one continuous piece for each run of the house, so the only joints are at the corners, end caps and downspout outlets. Fewer joints means fewer places for water to drip behind the gutter or for ice to pry a seam open. The trade-off is that a damaged run is replaced as one piece. Integrity Roofing and Painting measures, forms and hangs seamless gutters, and we will tell you if your current gutters only need repair.

Why joints matter in this climate

A sectional gutter has a seam every few feet, held with sealant. When water sits in a seam and freezes, it expands and works the sealant loose, and after enough winters the seams drip. That drip can land on a walkway or driveway and refreeze into ice. A seamless run has no mid-run seams, so that failure point is gone. Pitch still matters: a seamless gutter hung flat holds water just like any other gutter. See our snow and ice page for how standing water turns into ice dams.

How a seamless gutter install works

  1. Measure each run of the house corner to corner and plan downspout locations, including any spot you want for a rain barrel.
  2. Check the fascia and drip edge. The Pikes Peak Regional Building Department requires drip edge at the eaves and rakes of shingle roofs, and the gutter should sit under it so water cannot run behind. Soft or rotted fascia is replaced before anything is hung on it.
  3. Form the gutter on site from coil stock to the exact length of each run.
  4. Hang it with hidden hangers spaced along the fascia and pitched toward the downspouts.
  5. Seal corners, end caps and outlets, then attach downspouts that discharge away from the foundation.
  6. Water-test the system and clean up.

Seamless is a method, not a shape

Most seamless gutters are K-style, but the method also applies to other profiles. If you have an older home that suits a round profile, half-round gutters are an option. If your budget points to pieces from the store, our sectional gutter page covers where they make sense. Adding a gutter guard keeps needles and leaves out of the new run.

Before you buy

Read what new gutters cost in Colorado Springs and compare styles on our gutter installation overview. If your roof is due for replacement too, doing both together means the drip edge and gutter are installed to work as a pair.

Frequently Asked Questions

Where can a seamless gutter still leak?

At the corners, end caps and downspout outlets, which are the only joints left. Those are sealed during installation and are the first places we check on any service call.

Do seamless gutters cost more than sectional gutters?

The materials usually cost more up front because the gutter is formed on site with a machine. Over the life of the gutter the gap narrows, since there are far fewer joints to reseal and fewer leaks to chase.

Can one damaged section of a seamless gutter be replaced?

Usually the whole run between corners is replaced, because there is no seam to cut back to. A small dent or a loose hanger can often be repaired without replacing anything.
