Stop the water, keep everyone safe, document the damage, then fix it properly. Here is the order that protects your home and your claim.

Emergency roof repair in Colorado Springs is the temporary step that stops water from coming in after a storm, a fallen limb, or a sudden leak. When the roof is leaking right now, the order matters: make the house safe, contain the water inside, photograph everything, then get the opening covered with a tarp or patch until a permanent repair can be made. That stops more water from getting in so the real fix, and any insurance claim, starts from a stable house. Integrity Roofing and Painting responds the same business day and can tarp a storm-damaged roof while the permanent plan comes together.

The first hour: a checklist

  1. Safety first. If a ceiling is sagging with water, keep people out from under it. Turn off power to any room where water is near fixtures or outlets. If you smell gas or a carbon monoxide alarm sounds, get out and call 911.
  2. Contain the water. Move furniture and electronics, put buckets and towels down, and protect the floor.
  3. Photograph it. Take photos and video of the ceiling, the attic if it is safe to enter, and the roof from the ground. Date-stamped photos help your claim.
  4. Call your insurer if the damage came from a storm or a falling tree. The claim is yours to open and manage.
  5. Call a licensed roofer to secure the outside. Call us at (719) 488-2800.

What counts as a roofing emergency

  • Water actively coming through a ceiling or light fixture.
  • Shingles or underlayment torn off so the roof deck is exposed.
  • A tree limb through the roof. PPRBD requires a Colorado licensed design professional to assess possible structural damage from falling debris, and structural repairs need a permit.
  • A crushed flue cap on a gas furnace or water heater after hail, which PPRBD warns can trap carbon monoxide.

Before you call your insurer, keep our insurance company contact list handy. A slow drip from an old roof is still worth a call, but it is usually a roof repair appointment rather than an emergency.

Temporary fix versus permanent repair

A tarp or a sealed patch is meant to hold for days or weeks, not seasons. The permanent repair depends on what caused the leak; our guide to roof leak repair shows how to trace it:

In El Paso County, PPRBD does not require a permit for a repair under 100 square feet. A larger repair or a replacement is permitted work that a PPRBD-licensed contractor must pull.

Paying for an unexpected repair

When a storm is the cause, your claim may cover the repair minus your deductible. Colorado law does not allow a roofer to waive or pay that deductible for you. For the gap, or for a roof that was simply at the end of its life, we offer financing through a lending partner.

Frequently Asked Questions

Should I go up on the roof to put a tarp on myself?

We advise against it. Wet shingles, wind and a damaged deck make a storm-damaged roof dangerous, and a tarp nailed through good shingles can cause new leaks. Work inside to contain the water and let a roofer secure the outside.

Will my insurance pay for emergency tarping?

Many homeowner policies expect you to take reasonable steps to prevent further damage after a covered loss, and temporary repairs are often part of the claim. Your policy decides what is covered, so keep the receipt and photos and ask your carrier.

What if a gas appliance vent was hit?

Treat it as a safety issue first. PPRBD warns that hail can crush the vent cap on a gas furnace or water heater flue and trap carbon monoxide in the home. If a detector alarms or the vent looks crushed, leave the house and call your gas utility or 911.

Do you work on weekends or at night?

Our office hours are Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Call (719) 488-2800 or book online, and we respond the same business day. If there is any danger to people, call 911 first.
