A storm counts when the library lists Denver County among the areas it hit. Each hail size is the storm's largest report, which may have fallen in a neighboring county, and insured losses cover every area the storm hit.

Integrity Roofing and Painting paints interiors in homes across Denver and the suburbs: walls, ceilings, trim, doors, railings and cabinets, using Sherwin-Williams and Behr paints. A good interior job is mostly prep: moving and covering furniture, patching and sanding, priming stains and repairs, and cutting clean lines. Many of our interior jobs follow a roof or ice dam leak, so we can fix the cause and repaint the damage in one project.

Interior work we take on

  • Whole-house repaints and single rooms.
  • Ceilings, including stain-blocking primer over old water marks.
  • Trim, doors and railings in durable enamel.
  • Cabinets, degreased, de-glossed and primed with a bonding primer before the topcoat.
  • Leak repairs, once the roof, flashing or plumbing leak is fixed and the drywall is dry.

Choosing finishes room by room

RoomTypical finishWhy
CeilingsFlatHides flaws and lap marks
Living and bedroomsMatte or eggshellLow sheen, still washable
Kitchens, baths, hallsSatinStands up to scrubbing and moisture
Trim and doorsSemi-gloss or gloss enamelHard, wipeable surface

Exact washability and sheen vary by product, so we confirm them on the data sheet of the line we use.

Denver conditions inside the house

From a Capitol Hill Victorian with plaster walls to a newer home in Aurora or Littleton with drywall, the prep differs: plaster cracks need different patching than drywall seams. Indoor air in Denver is dry most of the year, especially with forced-air heat. Paint and patching compound dry faster than the label times, which are measured at 77°F and 50 percent humidity, so we keep a wet edge on large walls to avoid lap marks. Dry winters also open hairline cracks at drywall seams, which we caulk or tape before painting. In summer, we time work around afternoon heat in upper floors without air conditioning.

Condo and HOA rules in some Lakewood, Arvada and Aurora communities set work hours and hallway protection; we check them before scheduling.

After a roof or ice dam leak

Painting over a water stain without fixing the leak only hides the next one. We find the source, repair it, let the drywall dry, replace soft drywall if needed, and seal the stain with a stain-blocking primer before painting the full ceiling plane so the patch blends. See Denver roof repair if the leak is overhead.

Older homes and lead paint

In homes built before 1978, EPA’s Renovation, Repair and Painting rule covers paid interior work that disturbs more than 6 square feet of paint per room, and requires certified firms and lead-safe work practices. Tell us your home’s age when you book.

Ventilation

EPA lists paint among household products that release VOCs and advises ventilating while using them, following label directions and disposing of leftover paint properly. We open windows or run fans while painting and keep containers closed.

Exterior work too

Our Denver house painting page covers exteriors. If you are also planning siding replacement or window replacement, the interior trim around new windows can be painted in the same project.

Frequently Asked Questions

What finish should I use in each room?

As a general guide: flat or matte on ceilings to hide flaws, a washable matte or eggshell on living-area walls, satin in kitchens, baths and halls that get scrubbed, and semi-gloss or gloss enamel on trim and doors. We confirm the exact product's sheen and washability on its data sheet.

Do you move furniture and protect floors?

We move and cover furniture in the work area, cover floors and fixtures, and mask what is not being painted. Fragile, valuable or very heavy items are best moved by the homeowner before we start.

Can you fix cracks before painting?

Yes. Nail pops, hairline cracks at seams and corners, and small holes are patched, sanded and primed before paint. Larger drywall damage from a leak is cut out and replaced once the leak is fixed and the framing is dry.

How do you keep paint fumes down?

EPA advises increasing ventilation when using products that release VOCs, following label directions and not storing leftover paint indoors. We ventilate during and after the work and leave only the touch-up paint you want.
