Key numbers
45 verified hail storms with stones of 1.75 inches or larger reached Denver County from 1984 to 2026 in the storm records we keep; the largest measured 4.5 inches (softball size) on July 13, 2011 (NOAA NCEI).

A storm counts when the library lists Denver County among the areas it hit. Each hail size is the storm's largest report, which may have fallen in a neighboring county, and insured losses cover every area the storm hit.
Integrity Roofing and Painting replaces windows in existing homes across Denver and its suburbs. Simonton is the window line we install most, and we can put in another brand if you prefer it. The job is replacement only: we take out the old windows, fix what we find in the opening, install the new units level, plumb and square, and flash them into the wall so water has a way out. We do not supply windows for new construction or additions.
Is it time to replace?
Denver-area homes range from older houses with original wood sash to newer ones with aging vinyl and aluminum units, so the right answer differs by house:
- Original wood sash in sound condition may be worth repairing and pairing with storm windows. Read repair or replace first.
- Builder-grade aluminum or early vinyl with failed seals, broken balances or frost inside in winter is usually worth replacing.
- Fogged glass on one or two units can often be fixed by replacing the glass alone.
- Cracked glass or split frames after hail: see hail-damaged windows and Denver hail damage.
- Water stains below a window point to a flashing problem; see window leaks at the flashing.
What Simonton covers, and what we cover
Simonton’s lifetime limited warranty for its replacement products (including its 5500, 5050 and Asure lines) covers vinyl, hardware and screens for the residential owner, with glass coverage prorated over time. The vinyl, hardware and screen coverage can be transferred once to the next residential owner. Labor for removal, reinstallation or repair is not included in that warranty. Those are Simonton’s terms; our installation workmanship is covered separately in your contract. If you choose another brand, we hand you that maker’s warranty instead.
Reading the energy label
Every certified window carries an NFRC label with its U-factor, solar heat gain coefficient, visible transmittance and, often, air leakage and condensation resistance. ENERGY STAR sets its limits by climate zone; its strictest, the Northern zone, calls for a U-factor of 0.22 or lower. Look up the zone for your ZIP code before comparing quotes. Our NFRC and ENERGY STAR guide explains each number, including why altitude can change the glass you get.
Code points for replacement windows
The residential code exempts a replacement window in a bedroom escape opening from the size and sill-height rules only when the new unit is the maker’s largest standard size that fits and keeps the same or more opening area (R310.5). Safety glass is required in hazardous locations such as doors, glass beside doors, large low panes and glass near tubs (R308.4). Flashing follows the window maker’s instructions (R703.4.1). Denver and each suburb run their own permit offices; see Denver building code data.
Older homes and lead paint
EPA’s Renovation, Repair and Painting rule treats window replacement in pre-1978 housing as covered work regardless of size, and only certified firms using lead-safe work practices may be paid to do it. Let us know your home’s age when you book so the work is planned around it.
One crew for windows, siding and roof
We can also paint the new interior and exterior trim; see Denver house painting and interior painting.
A new window is only as dry as the wall around it. When siding is also tired, replacing both together lets the window flashing lap correctly into the new water-resistive barrier; see Denver siding replacement. How we flash full-frame units is on our replacement window flashing page.
