Germania’s property claim steps
Germania describes what happens after you report a property claim:
- Review. A Germania adjuster reviews the reported loss information.
- Contact. The adjuster contacts you and anyone else involved for more information, typically by phone within 24 to 48 business hours.
- Documentation. The adjuster asks for photos and may request a physical inspection.
- Updates. You can opt in to email or text updates by telling your adjuster.
Germania says the overall length depends on the circumstances of the claim. For questions along the way, it points you to your agent or your adjuster.
Germania’s tips to prevent more damage
Germania’s claims handling page lists steps that protect both the home and the claim:
- Notify Germania in a timely manner about the loss.
- Make temporary repairs to stop further damage. Germania notes that it may be necessary to fully tarp and board up the home, stop a leak, remove a tree or extract water.
- Take photos of the damage and keep receipts for every repair.
- Check contractors with the Better Business Bureau or a reference check before authorizing work.
- Read and understand any contract before signing.
- Be wary of door-to-door solicitors.
- Be ready to send photos and receipts to your claims adjuster.
Reading your estimate in GermaniaConnect
Germania lets registered policyholders view and print the adjuster’s estimate in GermaniaConnect as soon as the adjuster completes it, without waiting for mail or email. You register with your policy number and client ID, both on the declarations page, then open the Claims Status section. Your local agent sees the same details, so you can review it together.
For a roof, read the estimate for the number of squares, the waste factor, starter and ridge, drip edge, underlayment, vents, pipe boots and flashing. Those are the lines most worth comparing with a roofer’s scope.
How Germania pays
Germania offers a mailed check or its Customer Choice digital payment. With Customer Choice, the payment partner One Inc emails you from claimspay@oneinc.com, you confirm the claim number for identity verification, and you choose a printed check or a digital method. Germania says a mailed check goes out the next business day by standard delivery. A valid email address and mobile number are required for the digital route, and the process can differ when mortgagees, lienholders or vendors are on the payment.
Where we fit
Germania’s tips say to check any contractor and read the contract before signing, and that applies to us too. If you call us, we inspect the roof, photograph the damage, and write a line-item scope you can compare with the GermaniaConnect estimate, so nothing gets missed in the scope. You and Germania handle the claim.
State rules that apply to a Germania Insurance claim
Texas. The Texas Department of Insurance (TDI) says your company has 15 business days (about 3 weeks) to acknowledge a claim and 15 business days after it gets what it needs to decide, with a written reason for any rejection. It can take an extra 45 days if it tells you why. Insurance Code 542.057 then gives it 5 business days to pay. Before suing over hail or wind damage, Insurance Code 542A.003 generally requires written notice at least 61 days ahead. Your policy sets your own reporting deadline. TDI Help Line: 800-252-3439.
More detail for both states is on our insurance carrier guide hub.
